Provecta has been announced as the successful tenderer to undertake the control upgrade for the Demineralised (Demin) Water Plant at Origin Energy’s Eraring Power Station. The new control system will replace the obsolete PLC hardware and integrate the controls for the Demin Plant into the Eraring Power Station Integrated Control and Monitoring System – a Yokogawa Centum-VP DCS. Provecta will be responsible for all aspects of the control system design and integration with the existing Yokogawa Centum-VP system. Provecta have engaged Downer EDI Engineering Power Pty Ltd to undertake the electrical installation component of the works. The control system changeovers will be completed with the four generating units in service, requiring extensive works planning and close interaction with Origin Energy staff. Eraring Power Station is one of Australia’s largest power generating sites with 4 x 720MW coal fired units providing a total output of 2880MW. The power station is located on the Central Coast of NSW and was acquired by Origin Energy in 2013.
