Robogals is a student-run organisation which aims to encourage schoolgirls to be involved in engineering activities with the long-term goal of increasing female enrolment in engineering, science and technology courses at a tertiary level. Their primary activity involves university students visiting girls in primary schools to run LEGO robotics workshops and mentor teams in LEGO robotics competitions. Both male and female university students can volunteer to be part of the program which is based around this central robotics theme. The founder of Robogals, Marita Cheng, was named Young Australian of the Year for 2012 and is passionate about building a future where more girls embrace being part of the Engineering industry. PROVECTA became involved with Robogals as it realises the importance of engineer training for females and believes in equal opportunities for all young people.
